Two URI Leaders in Pakistan Got Peace Award 2007
It is with great joy and pride that we would like to share with you, yet another, historic news about the recognition and achievement of the URI Pakistan The National Council of Interfaith Dialogue Pakistanpresented “Peace Award 2007” to Fr. James Channan OP,Prior Vice-Provincial of the Dominican Order Pakistan and URI Regional Coordinator and Mr.Yuel Bhatti, Coordinator Tehreek Taraque-E-Insaniate CC (Organization of Community Development) on 8th December, 2007 in a large gathering of over 500 guests from various religions from all over Pakistan,Islamabad, Karachi, Sargodha, Frontier, Faislabad,Sailkot etc. including the dignities from all life of walk, poets, scholars, social workers, singers, filmartistes, peace promoter, religious leaders at St. Mary’s High School, Gulberg, Lahore, Pakistan.
The nomination of Peace award 2007 was on the evaluation of dedication and commitment towardspromoting interfaith peace and harmony in the countryand elsewhere. Mr. Peter Andreas Bochmann, Resident Representative Friedrcik Naumann Stiftung Fur die Freiheit, Germany residing in Islamabad was the Chief Guest and AghaKamal, Senator Government of Pakistan was the Guest ofHonor. They presented Peace Award 2007 to Fr.James ChannanOP, and to Mr. Yuel Bhatti for their profound services for spreading the interfaith harmony, peace and dialogue. Large number of electronic and print media covered the ceremony.
We extend congratulation to all members of the URI family in the world for the recognition andappreciation of the interfaith dialogue and peace activities done and promoted by the URI members in Pakistan. Long live URI!
