The number of refugees forced to flee from Swat Valley and adjacent districts has increased to 1.2 million. Their problems mount daily. As URI members we are particularly concerned about Muslim, Christian, Sikh and Baha’i refugees. Aid is scarce. These honorable people have no choice but to look to their brothers and sisters from Pakistan and the rest of the world for relief. They will appreciate and receive with thanks food items, tents or medicine in this most difficult time of crisis. We believe that solidarity with the URI global community will be a great gesture of our care and love for them.
We have calculated primary food and survival items. A family of 7 can be fed for one day for $15; for one month for $450. Tents and water coolers are approximately $130 per family. We hope to provide food, medicine, tents or water supplies to between 500-1000 families (or as many as we can) with donations received. We appeal to the URI family to come to our aid at this time of crisis and we welcome with gratitude any help that can be offered for these people.
Let us hope and pray that this crisis will end soon and that religiously motivated violence will come to an end. Let us pray that the people of Pakistan and especially of Swat will live in peace in the near future. God bless Pakistan!
Thanking you in anticipation for considering our appeal we remain,
Yours sincerely,
